Record fair : £5 entry. Got 73 records/CDs for £141.48, including a batch of 46 gospel singles for £35. Also bought some blue paper antistatic 7" sleeves, and four cheap CDs to sell.

# 2009/328 : Mutabaruka : Check It (Alligator AL 8306)
# 2009/329 : Astor Piazzolla : Libertango (Chrysalis CHR 1096) - one of the few things on Chrysalis really worth having, alongside Stockhausen and the two Pere Ubu L.P.s and 7"
# 2009/330 : Hammer Presents Dracula With Christopher Lee (EMI TWOA 5001)
# 2009/331 : Music Of The Bahamas Volume Three - Instrumental Music From The Bahamas Islands (Folkways FS 3846) - think I might have a French version of this L.P. on a different label as I recognise some of the recordings...

# 2009/333 : Rock & Reggae & Derek & Clive (Island MM 1) - not one I really needed, but I'd only seen it once before

A 7" :
# 2009/324 : Sparks : Looks, Looks, Looks/ Pineapple (Island WIP 6249) - upgrade for my cracked copy. My very favourite of Sparks' singles
Also got an old record catalogue, a lovely-condition copy of The Island Book Of Records 1975.

X-word, by Taupi : 5/28.

Listen list (soundtrack to my reading of The Slits biography) :
- The Slits : Double Peel Sessions (Strange Fruit, 12")
- The Slits : Typical Girls/ Typical Girls - Brink Style/ I Heard It Through The Grapevine/ Liebe And Romanze (Island, 12")
- The Slits : Earthbeat and Earthdub/ Begin Again, Rhythm (CBS, 12")

- Pigbag : Getting Up (Y, 12" A)
- Ornette Coleman : Sleep Talk (Of Human Feelings L.P., Antilles)
- Manu Dibango : Big Blow (Decca, 7" A)

The Slits book was very interesting, and included a fair amount of input from Steve Beresford, who played a lot on the Giant Slits record. It could have been twice as long, as far as I'm concerned - for instance I'd like to have known the identity of the South American jazz producer who was going to work on what would have been The Slits' third album proper; and there was no mention as to whether Ari Up actually made records as Jamaica-based dancehall queen Madussa. I'd like to have known a fair bit more about the individual members' backgrounds too.
